Drawing is a quiet moment for me, because being an Autist life in general is a constant barrage of sights and sounds. Where for ‘normal’ (because what is normal anyway, right?) the ticking of a clock or a constant sound disappeared, filtered by the mind, with me that doesn’t happen. Anywhere crowded, my brain doesn’t filter out, but defines and hears every conversation, every spoken word.
But when I draw, especially with headphones on, life empties out into just a series of lines and curves, a picture in which I can disappear.
Drawing in public is new for me, but it also has something special; interaction with others and appreciation for my work, which helps my struggling ego, and donations are always welcome for the paper, pens, pencils, paints, brushes, canvasses, and coffee needed to make new art. 🙂
So this is how I work:
… and here are some more samples of my artwork.
As some drawings are nudes, some caution is advised.
